Review: Peachville High Demons by Sarra Cannon

Review Peachville High Demons Books 1-4
By: Sarra Cannon

Book 1-Beautiful Demons
Book One of the Peachville High Demons Series.

In Peachville, even the cheerleaders have a dark side...

Harper Madison isn't like other girls. She has extraordinary powers, but her inability to control them has gotten her kicked from so many foster homes she's lost count. Shadowford Home is her last chance, and she hopes Peachville High will be the fresh start she needs. But when evidence ties her to the gruesome murder of a Demons cheerleader, Harper discovers this small town has a big secret.

Book 2 - Inner Demons
Becoming a Demons cheerleader was the last thing Harper Madison expected when she moved to the small town of Peachville. Now that she's an official member of the squad, her training can begin. Only, this is no normal group of cheerleaders. Harper isn't there to learn dances and cheers. She became a cheerleader in order to finally learn how to control the magic inside.

The Peachville Demons cheerleading squad is really a training ground for a powerful coven of witches called the Order of Shadows. The training opens up a new world for Harper. It's a world of beauty and magic beyond her wildest dreams, but also a world of pressure and impossible expectations.

A world where every secret hides an even darker secret.

Book 3- Bitter Demons
So far, life in Peachville has been tough for Harper Madison. She's survived attacks on her life, learned how to control her magic, and met the most gorgeous boy - who also happens to be a demon. After her latest stunt at Brighton Hospital, the Order of Shadows is determined to tighten their control on her life. So when a future Prima from a nearby demon gate comes to town, she and Harper decide to use magic to switch places at a party. All Harper wants is to have a little fun.

But the night will end in blood.

And Harper will find out the attack was meant for her...

Book 4- Shadow Demons
In Peachville, there's a fine line between good and evil.

That line is about to be crossed.

Review- 5x5 For all 4 books!!
Ok , I read all 4 of these in the span of two days, so therefor I am doing a overall review of them. Love cheerleaders? (I don't really LOL) Love witches? (sure) put them together and you have the Fab squad of Demons Cheerleaders...
I loved everything ... the characters are all well thought out and have depth to them and the world she has sucked you into is vivid. The twists and turns and such you will never see coming and I HEART that so much in a book. Now she is working on #5 and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. For your e-book at amazon the first two are a whopping .99!! books 3 & 4 are only $2.99 each!!
They are a great quick read!

Masters and Slayers by Bryan Davis

Adrian Masters was taught by his father to always respect women and never raise his sword against them. Marcelle fights with a sword better than most men, she fights with vengeance. The fighting matches are good, and yes, entertaining, especially when she can embarrass her old friend Adrian about his old man’s way of thinking. Chivalry is dead and it doesn’t matter. If chivalry existed her mother would still be alive.

Adrian would be the best swordsman if it weren’t for Marcelle (..er..swordmaiden). True to his honor and upbringing, he always forfeits against her. It never bothered him too much though. These matches were just practice. What he really wanted to do was go out and find the missing. People had been going missing for years, disappearing without a trace. There was one theory though. That they had been enslaved on another world called starlight. Starlight is rumored to be the most dangerous place in any realm, it’s ruled by (mostly) ruthless dragons who will do anything to reap profits. Adrian’s dream comes true when he is allowed to go to starlight, the only problem being his partner is Marcelle. While they both have amazing skills with a sword, Adrian would prefer a stealthy, strategic approach, while hot-headed impulsive Marcelle would rather just go on the attack. Adrian must get to Starlight, keep the two of them out of danger, and save the slaves. With his fierce devotion, Adrian will do anything to get Marcelle and the children off Starlight. Even if it means he has to die.

5X5: that means five stars/hearts, right? I love this book. First of all, I just love Bryan Davis. All his books are fantastic for a lot of reasons. I could blab on and on about them but one of the biggest factors is that his plots are complex and interesting. You have to own a brain to truly get the real message. His books always whisper to me ‘can you handle it?’ I love the challenge and I love his bighearted heroes. Not to mention, I love pretty much any book with a sword in it (one of my more shallow reasons.) It’s not for the weak reader, but I enjoy them immensely. I definitely recommend this book.

Review: A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

Review : A Touch Mortal by: Leah Clifford
Eden didn't expect Az.

Not his saunter down the beach toward her. Not his unbelievable pick up line. Not the instant, undeniable connection. And not his wings.

Yeah.

So long happily-ever-after.

Now trapped between life and death, cursed to spread chaos with her every touch, Eden could be the key in the eternal struggle between heaven and hell. All because she gave her heart to one of the Fallen, an angel cast out of heaven.

She may lose everything she ever had. She may be betrayed by those she loves most. But Eden will not be a pawn in anyone else's game. Her heart is her own.

And that's only the beginning of the end.

Review: 4x5
Ugh! This is my first 4x5 .... it saddens me but there it is! I really did enjoy the story but well the pacing was all over the place for me. It may not have made my 5x5 but maybe it will for you! So pick it up and read it cause it does have really great characters and storyline...I will be reading the next one :)

Ok as a note I HEART this series! Jeri really has a knack for what she does..making you feel all that you are reading. I am vested in each of these characters and wouldn't want it any other way. This book will blow you away! If you read and liked - loved Shade then this is a MUST!

Personal note: ( and I don't usually do this) I had someone Very close to me like in the first book die on me at 17, and I am not sure I wouldn't have done exactly what Aura has in these books. Makes me think and that is so cool! It even grips me harder that I have had this experience in my life and I can put myself in her place :)  MUCH LOVE..

Review : Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready

Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready
(Shade #1)
Aura and her boyfriend are anticipating a special evening: it's Logan's 17th birthday, his band is playing an important gig, and they have intimate plans for the after party. However, things go horribly wrong when Logan drinks heavily, takes the cocaine that a record label rep gave to him, and dies. Logan is gone, but not really. Aura, like everyone else aged 16 and younger, was born after the Shift and can see and talk to ghosts. This ability has long annoyed her, and she has yearned to find out why the phenomenon happened so that she can end it. Now, still very much in love, Aura is ecstatic to see and hear Logan's spirit, though they can't touch. Then Zachary, a new boy, enters the picture and he and Aura discover that they share a mysterious bond: they were born one minute apart (he the last one pre-Shift and she the first after). Meanwhile, Logan's parents decide to sue the record label for providing their son with drugs, hoping that Logan will pass on if they win. If he doesn't find peace, he risks becoming a shade, a violent emanation considered a public-safety threat.

Review : 5x5 What a ride!
Jeri Smith-Ready is Amazing! Ok so it takes alot to get me emotional during a book, normally I get into the story and all and get pulled into the world created which I love, BUT this book did that and much more! I was totally happy when Aura was and oh the sad feeling and confusion and so much more. 0.o I am only invested in the characters like this with 2 other books... and I read ALOT!

Aura has to make tough choices and sometimes I was all for what she does and others I'm like ok enough! Logan is just rock-star material and has the attitude to go with, sometimes with him I was like awww and others it was like really think of someone else!

and then there is Zachary... I so understand everyones loyalty to him(fanwise) cause I was snared by him. I couldn't say enough about him if I tried. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ IF YOU ARE BEHIND LIKE ME lol

Today's Question:

Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

Really? Of course it would need to be just like True Blood.. Vamps, Weres, Shifters, and yeah Even fairies! First of all Vamps are a must! Weres are just umm HOT   and well shifters are the coolest. Who wouldn't want to be able to shift into whatever animal they want???

Review: 5x5 Outstanding Start to the spinoff series!!
I have waited for this book to come out and yeah, not patiently! If you have read Vampire Academy and loved it or even just liked it (but how could you not love it??) Then you will LOVE this. We pick up where Last Sacrifice left off but now it's from Sydney' point of view. She has a totally different outlook on things, which is great and well frustrating because we all know and heart our Vamps and dhampirs. Also Adrian...need I say more? No I didn't think so :)

I cannot give this enough praise and OMG really my jaw is still on the floor from the last line of the book! REALLY! whoot. June 19, 2012 is too long for the next one: The Golden Lily

Review : Fast-Tracked by Tracy Rozzlynn

Fast-Tracked by Tracy Rozzlynn

(#1 Fast-Track Trilogy)

Study hard, do well on your assessment, and you’ll be rewarded.

The phrase had been repeated throughout Alexandria's life. A person’s ranking on the assessment test determined everything. Their job, where they live, and even who they could marry. At least that’s what Alexandria though before she received the results.

Everything Alexandria believed was a lie. Fast-trackers run the country. Anger one of them and your whole world could fall apart. Anger one of them and the person you love would suffer.

Alexandria was elevated to fast-tracker class while her best-friend turned true love was plummeted to the lowest possible rank – a guaranteed life of hardship and misery. She plunges herself into the fast-tracker world in hopes of helping Byron. But can she help Byron before she completely loses herself to the allure of their lifestyle?

I really wasn't sure I was going to like this...No really I don't like everything I pick up some I just put back down and don't review! This however turned out to be an engrossing story.

Alexandria is a great character! She really reminds me of...well lots of girls. We tend to go back and forth with ourselves ALOT, here she keeps it all together when loads would just fall apart. She keeps her standards and morals in check when it would be super easy to just go with everyone else so Kudos! Now Byron well just let me be honest I didn't and I'm still not sure I'm on board with him :( I do heart some Avery though.... there is all thrills and excitement that go along with being in with the Rich in-crowd. Backstabbing, beat-downs, and Love...and well the ending will leave you with your mouth hanging open and eyes wide 0.o

I cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy! If you have yet to read it... well click on the link up there to Amazon... srsly it's only .99!!! GET IT!!

Review : Kings & Queens by Courtney Vail

REVIEW: Kings & Queens by Courtney Vail

Seventeen-year-old Majesty Alistair wants police to look further into her father’s fatal car wreck, hopes the baseball team she manages can reclaim the state crown, aches for Derek…or, no…maybe Alec…maybe. And she mostly wishes to retract the hateful words she said to her dad right before slamming the door in his face, only to never see him again.

All her desires get sidelined, though, when she overhears two fellow students planning a church massacre. She doubts cops will follow up on her tip since they’re sick of her coming around with notions of possible crimes-in-the-works. And it’s not like she cries wolf. Not really. They’d be freaked too, but they’re not the ones suffering from bloody dreams that hint at disaster like some crazy, street guy forecasting the Apocalypse.

So, she does what any habitual winner with zero cred would do…try to I.D. the nutjobs before they act. But, when their agenda turns out to be far bigger than she ever assumed, and even friends start looking suspect, the truth and her actions threaten to haunt her forever, especially since she’s left with blood on her hands, the blood of someone she loves.

First off let me say that I totally heart this book! You have a great author and a great story together and WHAM! The cover is amazing and you will understand it at the end. I really did enjoy all..ALL the characters they were all well written and well rounded. As for suspense well I couldn't put it down because I wanted..no need to know what was going on, going to happen, and to who! I was left with my mouth hanging open as I was totally wrong when I thought I knew what was going on. WELL PLAYED Vail, well played :) Look forward to more things from her!

So, if you haven't yet ... get it ... read it... enjoy the ride.

I am so new to this ... this will be my first post :)
Welcome to Follow Friday!!

Q. How has your reading habits changed since you were a teen? or If you are still a teen what new genres are you in love with currently?

Well, I have always loved to read but I think when I was a teen I was more into poetry and horror. Yeah great combo I know. I was stuck on Dean Koontz and Stephen King then when I got out of high school I quit reading for a long time. Then I was like ok really what is all the fuss about Twilight?? I picked it up and well my kids had sandwiches and cereal for awhile. I had really missed reading and being pulled into a different world that a great author can create! I love Young Adult books (never cared for them when I was YA) and Dystopian and Steampunk and Love paranormal Romance(should they even call them romance LOL).

Cassandra Clare's Blog

Cassandra Clare's Blog: "Well, here 'tis. The DSCS.(Dirty Sexy Club Scene) from City of Lost Souls.

Now keep in mind a version of this does still exist in the books, but it is much less . . . well. You'll see. I wrote this in Mexico, probably having had too much mezcal, and I was trying to capture a mood of really dark, tipping over the edge sensuality, doing things that are probably a bad idea, you get the picture. I also recall reading bits of this aloud to Holly Black, Paolo Bacigalupi, Ellen Kushner, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Delia Sherman, who never dropped her knitting. So it can't be that naughty...can it?

I think for those who really hate SPOILERS you might want to avoid this because the things about it that may be the most shocking are not the sexy bits but the beginning....
