Madly and the Jackal *Madly #3* by M. Leighton Review & Giveaway

How deep does love run? Deeper than the ocean? Deeper than memory? Deeper than magic?

Following their plan to save Atlas, Madly and Jackson return the spirit of Wolfhardt to his prison beneath the sea. But even the best laid plans couldn’t account for the surprises they find. This time, Lore aren’t their only challenges.

Madly is special in ways no one could have guessed and dark forces seek to control her. They want her power, but first they must weaken her. They need her beaten. Vulnerable. Near death. And alone. But that task isn’t an easy one with Jackson at her side. The strongest of their kind, the only way to separate Jackson from Madly is to destroy his love for her, to erase it from his mind. And his heart.

Is it possible to steal Jackson’s love from Madly? Or is their love the only truly unbreakable thing?

Madly & the Jackal (Madly, #3)

Now here are some of my fave quotes...

There had never been another Sentinel like him. Everyone knew it. No one knew why or what made him so special, so capable and strong. Everyone just accepted it. It simply was. He simply was. He was Jackson, a force to be reckoned with. End of story.
Jackson snorted. "Trust me, there's nothing I'd like better right now than to push you up against the wall, wrap your legs around me ...." He inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly, as if the mere thought of it was nearly too much. "But I won't. You deserve better than that. In fact, you deserve better than me."
"I've never wanted anyone so much in all my life. And I never will again. We belong together, Madly. Always"
Was there a sexier man on the planet? i doubted it.

Ok so hmmm all those have to do with Jackson or something he says LOL... what can I say I adore him.

Leighton has hit another home run with this one! Madly and the Jackal has everything I wanted. Jackson and Madly "together" whooot that was HAWT *and it is mature*.

I'm telling you that was the Best.Scene.Ever. end of discussion.. No I will not tell you which *exactly 36 % location 1527 of ebook starts it* LOL

She does a wonderful job of describing the wonders and sights of Atlas without it being too much. You get just enough to make your own mental picture... and I love that!!

What happens between Madly and Jackson in this book broke my heart... It was intense, sad and very frustrating... all the makings for great drama! You really need to pick this series up!! It is AMAZING~!

Battlefield Tour Sign Up by J.F. Jenkins July 30 - Aug 13

Cadence, JD, and Orlando couldn’t be more different from one another. Under normal circumstances, the three wouldn’t so much as say hi to each other if they could get away with it. Then an alien crashes through the roof of their local mall, and everything changes. Not only do the three teens gain new abilities, but they’re also chosen to help fight in an intergalactic war where the next chosen battlefield is Earth.
Reluctant at first, they change their minds when the fight hits close to home. Teenagers from school start to go missing, and some are dead. Together they must learn to work together and solve the mystery behind these disappearances before more lives are lost.

J.F. Jenkins lives in Minneapolis where she spends most of her time creating and plotting world domination – something that has been in the works for roughly 13 years.
In her free time she works as the local coffee wench and dominates the minions of the pixilated world on her PS3.
She’s also got a little man (J Walk) and a little man trapped in a big man’s body (J Dawg) to take care of along with her two fur babies Ushi and Tibu.

Inescapable *The Premonition #1* by Amy A. Bartol

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me--my freshman year of college. I had been hoping that once I had arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that I've been having would go away. It hasn't.

I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I'm grounded...sane. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he is near, I feel an attraction to him--a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you're thinking...that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would--if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I'm the worst thing that's ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But, get this, for some reason every time I turn around he's there, barging into my life.

What is the secret he is keeping from me? I'm hoping that it is anything but what I expect: that he is not exactly normal...and neither am I. So maybe Crestwood won't be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I have been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

Would you be surprised that I didn't read the blurb? Well really you shouldn't be :) I was completely engrossed in this book from the very beginning. Evie sucks you in and won't let you go, she is that awesome. This is well written and not a dull moment!! It was a huge thing for me as I was trying to figure out what I was dealing with.... and yeah I was wrong LOL.

The characters are amazing! Each one brings something interesting to the table. Freddie is a sweet geeky always there for you kinda guy. Evie is trying to escape nightmares and befrinds Freddie, Russell, Buns and Brownie. Buns and Brownie, these two girls are made of Awesome! Right off I loved them. Russell... NC country boy with excellent manners and knows how to treat a lady <3 .

Then there is Reed.... Oh how I just went mushy when he came along. Even with all going on I just knew he was something Amazing! Strong, handsome and FIERCE. That is my word when describing him Fierce!!

I really couldn't read this fast enough! There is mystery, tons of action, love, friendships and a climax that will leave you going...

Madly & Wolfhardt *book 2 in the Madly series by M. Leighton

Madly is your average nearly-eighteen year old girl—for a princess, that is.

Madly James is thoroughly enjoying her internship in the small town of Slumber when the unthinkable happens—there’s a prison break in Atlas, the magically-protected home of Madly’s race. A traitor has set free eight Lore, the spirits of what humans know as fairy tales, and they are making their way to Slumber to awaken their descendants.

The first spirit to arrive is that of Ulrich Wolfhardt, a man that was once obsessed with wolves and a young maiden he would follow through the woods. After a bite from a wolf, Wolfhardt’s obsession with the girl became an unnatural hunger and the young maiden’s grandmother cursed him with a fate worse than death. And now he’s back…with a vengeance and a bite that can infect others as well.

Madly must learn the identity of Wolfhardt’s descendant and stop him before he kills again and spreads his curse across the earth. But the only person strong enough to help Madly is Jackson, the Sentinel who vowed to protect her and the one person capable of breaking her heart. Can Madly resist forbidden love long enough to save the world from Wolfhardt? Or will she have to sacrifice her heart and her destiny to save the ones she loves?

First off how beautiful is that cover? WOW! Again, no blurb reading for me before starting this book and man was I surprised!! I am not normally a mermaid kinda gal, well I am now! I love how Leighton created this world she has going on. This amazing town where the Mer can come to live for awhile among humans.

The storyline is very engaging and moves along at a perfect pace. There is no getting lost... there is mystery, action, angst, and romance all rolled into one.

The characters all rock! No really there is not one character here that is underdeveloped. They all are very unique and exceptionally written. Madly and Jersey are amazing girls. They compliment each other well. Aidan is a great addition to the girls, they have all grown up together and that comes across well. Jackson... well I could write a whole blog post just about him. I've been captivated by his presence! He is strong, caring, and lethal *sigh*
My Jackson ... yeah...

GET This amazing book now! Even if you haven't / don't read Mermaid stories .... You will really enjoy this one!

Ties to the Blood Moon by Robin Waldrop

Copy: Received from Author for fair review
Genevieve is a teenage girl who moves in with her aunt in Alaska after the death of her mother. Soon after her arrival she learns the things she was raised to believe only existed in fairytales are in fact a big part of her history. When it gets to be too much she seeks refuge in the arms of her new boyfriend, William, only to find out he's not who she thought he was either.

Find Robin on the web:

I am so glad I was asked to read this, I hadn't hear of it before then. I was pulled in withing the first few chapters. The storyline is great, with twists on the Vamp and Were stuff. This is NOT Twilight. Robin has put a great idea into an awesome story, well executed with wonderful characters.

Genevieve *Gen* is a great character. She is NOT a stumbling, weak person. Throughout the story as things are revealed she grows as a person and I love that. I was in with her through the whole story, with her love, and her doubts.

William is mysterious with a I know I'm all that attitude that works. He really isn't a jerk though one would think he might be. I felt myself really pulled to him by his actions and words.

Luna she kinda drove me nuts.... but she was just a little spoiled and that goes with the it's all about me thing. She would get so mad at Gen at the drop of a hat , then be all BFF again *can you say I wanna pull her hair out* :) I did like her but like I said she kinda drove me nuts.

The action was intense and well written, the emotional aspect was just as good! Cannot wait to get a hold of more from this Author!

Sector Marshall - On Erotic Love and Such...

Welcome lovelies.

Here we are without constraint, or interference.

Let us to delve into the foray of my innermost thoughts and desires. I assure you there are no better expenditures of your time than to settle yourselves at my feet as I divulge my intimate musings.

I can feel your wanting—the longing for my touch. Nevertheless I must make it clear from the beginning, my heart belongs to another.

First, I’d like to take a moment to clarify a few earthly misnomers regarding celestial beings. Let’s set aside all false ideology regarding harps and such, and recover the truth of these sublime creations.

There are several camps of celestial beings, Angels in their subject orders, Sectors, Fems, Caelestis, Powers, Principalities, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Authorities, Councils, Orators, and Rulers.

We are not a common people. We are created beings. We have the ability to observe humanity in its live-stream temporal state—the original reality television if you will. And yes, we see you in your birthday suit, testing our your dance moves, studying your reflection as you contort a dozen different smiles—all amusing vanities that rarely spark our interest.

Human quirks aside—lets put to rest the most vicious rumor against my kind—that we are incapable of Eros love.

It is very much accurate to say created beings are not only capable of free will, but of desire, lust, and both carnal thirst and weakness. Somehow your watered down mythology lumped us together as genderless, meek, pansies akin to harp strumming butterflies—fierce as a gnat.

I’ll say it once, we can, and will, annihilate and destroy. We have the power to rain down fire from the sky, sweep away half the planet with plagues and illness if moved to do so. We are a band of warriors that operate under the authority to kill, slay, maim—aid if necessary. Whatever the assignment may be. We don’t argue. We simply get it done.

In regards to love, I won’t weary you with the basic mood groups. Instead, we’ll focus on the mystical Eros—the fruit of God—the gift of erotic love.

One of the most startling features of mankind is the puritanical nature of the masses. Astounding when you consider it. Eros love was never meant to be shameful or belittled as some dirty chore. Eros love is the most critical assignment given to man, and thus, one of the only acts replicated generationally other than eating or breathing.

Adam and Eve christened the garden with their love as the first order of business, and believe me when I say there is not better business than to propagate Eros desires.

In the past I have often put my own ability to love and be loved in return under the celestial microscope, and like humans, failed in the attempt to realize the dream. I had come close once before in the middle ages, England. But that’s a story for another day.

Although that love faded and the candle of our affection was quickly snuffed out, I have been fortunate enough to find another—my soul’s prime attachment, a mate, a companion—one who will be a lover without compare.

It is through the Nephilim—irritants they might be—that draws forth the love of my eternal grace, Skyla Laurel Messenger.

Early on when I was in observance of Skyla, she was fumbling around campus in a bathrobe—not a champion of sophistication but a rather delightful spitfire of conventional formality, filled with elegance and grace beyond her years.

I had subjugated her to my eminence in dreams and visitations, and I can assure you although resistant to my efforts at first, she’s come around quite nicely. Her interest in me is duly noted by the aura of sunset hues she releases while burning for my affection. Suffice it to say, there is fire in the air when Skyla is near.

To prove these aren’t the ramblings of a madman—a prized revelation has been divinely gifted to me through Delphinius, an Orator of great respect. He has revealed that Skyla and I will one day engage in holy matrimony. An idea so relished, so desired, I would have sold my rite as a Sector to procure her as my wife to begin with.

And, after the blessed event, Master willing, we will be anointed with a multitude of offspring, which in turn will procure dominion for us in both the ethereal and earthly planes. Such children the earth has never bore witness to prior or I suspect after, although I surmise the future lineage of my descendants will be equally exalted.

I do hope they have Skyla’s eyes—such magnificent beauty is found in her temporal being. It’s a crime of nature to have so many stunning attributes locked in a single person.

There is the matter of a certain affection being returned to me. I assure you I can feel Skyla’s wanting, her desire—her love for me is obvious when she pours herself into those passionate kisses. When she trembles in my arms, I ache to quench her every need.

One day, we shall find refuge and solace in one another’s arms, and should we fall to disagreement we’ll simply settle our differences in the nude, tucked beneath our satin sheets. How I long for days filled with settling our disagreements…

Although, I assure you I’m quite capable of keeping a heartfelt smile on my lovely bride by supplying a generous display of emotional and physical assurances—so many physical assurances—rampant, unbridled, unconstrained, enthusiastic exhibits of both public and private affection. There will be no bounds to my display of devotion. Rest assured I will pour passion out like oil over my beloved. Let’s just say the colloquial term “get a room” will go off like a choir when we’re in the trappings of the general public.

Now, moving to the subject of the incompetent Olivers. Jock Strap and the Pretty One have taken a liking to my future bride, with both laying claim to a prospective life with her. That, in partial, is why I chose to employ myself at the establishment of education in which they attend. Angels and Sectors alike are not omniscient nor do we have a clear view of what the future holds. It’s pertinent I inject myself in Skyla’s life in as many ways possible. Monitoring potential suitors is just one facet of ensuring she lands safely in my arms.

Let’s dissect Jock Strap for a moment, formally known to the populace as Gage Theodore Oliver or number forty-four if you prefer the coding of his inferior athletic pursuit.

He has a bad back, which he’s yet to put the finger on due to the fact he blames his aches and pains on the Pretty One for challenging his male prowess at every turn. I might be moved to snap him in two, should he continue to actively pursue the hand of my betrothed—give his vertebrae something a little more obvious to moan about.

His mind is in a constant state of copulation.  It’s distracting when I’m attempting to lead the masses down a path of mathematical reason to have him bombard the atmosphere with thoughts of sacrilegious intercourse. Believe you me, envisioning a blatant pornography session with my future wife does nothing to get on my good side. In fact, it ignites me in a rage to bear witness to the carnality of his boyhood fantasies.

I’d like nothing more than to pith his grey matter right through his lewd glowing eyes. I have a quiver full of arrows ready and willing to assist me in the endeavor. It would be a great way to put an end to the atrocities he afflicts me with and an end to him in general. We will get to the end of young Oliver—that much I can assure.

On to the Pretty One; Logan, unlike Jock Strap, does show a significant aptitude for sacrifice where Skyla is concerned, and in turn, this concerns me. He did employ a rather unusual level of devotion far beyond any puppy love that might be expected at his age when he abandoned his Celestra standing. He’s numbered himself with the Countenance on her behalf, and now Skyla’s heart is forever pricked with undying dedication.

Lets be clear on one thing as we prepare to depart—not a moment passes without Skyla in my thoughts, or in my heart. The prospect of losing her for a time to another is far too excruciating to bear, and thus, I mustn’t allow that misstep to interfere with the building of our intimacy.

I shall quench a flame or two on my own if I have to.

After all—death becomes everybody.

My banner over Skyla is love.

*Please come back at a yet undisclosed time when Ms. Moore graciously rewrites a scene from the most relevant viewpoint of all—mine.
Fair warning—prepare to be dazzled and conceivably aroused.

Perhaps you have a thirst for knowledge only I can quench. Leave your burning questions below. It’s my pleasure to satisfy your every cerebral desire.

Review: Consume by Shelly Crane

Consume (The Devoured #2)

Eli and Clara's story continues as she tries to finish high school. Eli is as over protective as ever and Tate and his group of friends are no help. They wait for the Horde, always looking over their shoulder. But the ever annoying but strangely prophetic bird begins to become more of a chatter box and Eli learns something that could change some things. Not just for him and Clara, but Devourers everywhere.

Then an unexpected guest comes forcing Eli to flee with Clara, leaving her temporary family behind. She is thrown into his world of underground 'traitors' and learns much of his past. They meet many new people and creatures along the way to freedom. But when tragedy strikes the two, will Clara see the monster in Eli? Can she handle his strange world and awful past? Will one of them lose their life forever..

Want more? Yeah you know you do... Find Shelly on the web:

What a ride! This one is action packed and emotional. Eli and Clara are just getting over the horde attack and trying to get on with "normal". Eli is just as amazing as he was in Devour. He does everything in his power to help Clara and protect her from everyone and everything. I would love to get into his head sometime!

Clara... Oh this girl has it rough this time. She is sure of Eli but when others from his past come into play it makes her doubt. I like how Shelly uses "real" situations and plays them out. I could totally relate to what she was going through emotionally in this book.

Man at the cool creatures and such! We get to delve into the world that Eli is from and it is a wild ride. I am not one to spoil things but.... The Wall is the coolest place! There is Love, heartache, betrayal and most of all SWOON :)

If you haven't read Devour yet... WHY? get it then get Consumed!!

“Today is the release of @srjohannes’  novelette, Suffocate! Check it out on SupaGurl Books

Wanna know how good it is? I finished it in a little over 2 hours *while I was at work*. Then had to read it again! Amazing start to what is an intriguing concept. The characters are really well written and interesting. The whole world she has created in such a small span of the novelette is so cool.

Eria *what a cool name* is an only child with a super smart father. He's made a special suit that he hopes will help everyone be able to get out of the "biome" She grabbed me from go. By the end of it I was left mouth hanging open and excited for her.

The other characters that come into play are spot on and well thought out. The "biome" Is described just enough so that you can make up your own place *i love that*.

I really cannot wait for the next in this novelette series... What adventure awaits Eria.... If you like dystopian then you should definitely check this out!!!

Tour Sign Up: The Book of James by Ellen J Green

The Book of James
By Ellen J Green

Book Blurb:

A terrible car crash sets things in motion for 31 year old Mackenzie when her critically injured husband, Nick, whispers warnings that someone from his past may attempt to harm or kill her after his passing. He urges her to travel to Philadelphia to his childhood home. Find James, he insists. It's the only way out.

His last words are pushed to the side in the aftermath of his death, as Mackenzie is consumed with grief. Until the things he had spoken of start to come true. Mackenzie's search brings her to the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, to the 19th century mansion where her husband was raised, and face to face with a mother-in-law she didn't know existed. The two women each have an agenda. Cora, a recluse, worries that her son revealed devastating childhood secrets to his wife. Mackenzie is concerned that unless she uncovers those secrets and finds the elusive James, she may not survive. The two women circle around one another, hunter and prey. But which is which?

As the plot unfolds Mackenzie becomes more driven and takes increasingly dangerous risks while Cora’s precarious mental state rapidly deteriorates forcing her to relive a past she has worked so hard to keep buried.A gallery of photographs in the bowels of the house holds clues to generations of abuse, treachery and possibly murder. Messages hidden in Nick’s childhood Bible within the Epistle of James have Mackenzie racing against time to put the pieces together, unearth the reasons her husband chose to vanish when he was sixteen years old, and locate the person mentioned in Nick’s dying breath.

When James is finally found, the results are more horrifying than Mackenzie could have ever imagined.

Guest Teen Review of Obsidian by Jennifer L . Armentrout

I have the coolest girl around town Savannah typed up a review for me... She is 16 and well here ya go :)

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.

Amazing! Absolutely mind consuming! Out of this World! This book had to be the most indulging book I have ever read. I couldn't put the book down. It pulled me in the first few chapters and kept me interested. As soon as I was done reading it, I hated that I didn't have the second book.

Every time I put the book down, I couldn't help to to itch in frustration because I wanted to run away to my debroom and read more! This book took paranormal to a whole new level. Every chapter was exhilarating and absorbed me more and more into the book. "Obsidian" was the best book I have ever read. And so I decided to read it a few more times!

When I first read the back of the book and a friend had told me it was about aliens, I was a little hesitant. I have read everything from vampires to zombies but never about aliens. I had this picture in my head of slimy, gross alien taking over the world or something and that being the climax to the book.

After reading "Obsidian", I would recommend this book to EVERYONE! This book completely blew me away!

Now just let me tell ya... I had her take this book to read and within 24 hours she was calling me telling me this was the BEST book she had ever read! She absolutely LOVED it... And she borrows and reads all my books :)

What girl wouldn't want to be surrounded by the sexy guys from the hottest teen rock sensation in the country?  18-year-old Never "Neve" Knight, not only is surrounded by the hottest boys to hit the music charts, but she is the band's lead singer. As the band's lead singer and manager, Never formed and shaped the band to where it is today, a band on the rise and on the brink of being signed by a label. As one of the guys, she knew each of the band members since they were all snot-nose ten-year-olds. While her boys were the cutest guys and they would protect her like knights, she couldn't date any one of them and ruin the chance at being signed with the record label of her dreams. That changes when one of the band members suddenly drops out of the band, and in walks Danny Blue, with his dreamy blue eyes, hot body, and British accent. Suddenly, Never's solid world has turned to mush, and her rule for not dating one of her band members is seriously challenged. Can she keep her head straight and get her band signed with a label without losing her heart?
